OUR INSURANCE

I have asked Neil Clayton, (the M.D. of Doodson’s), to give a brief run-down of the insurance cover we provide for both Club Officials and Riders. Yes, we can provide ‘cheaper insurance’ but, the problem we then face is what benefits do we drop to achieve a saving? The old adage of ‘you only get what you pay for’ is very relevant in this time of, no win – no fee!
A new addition to the range of cover we offer has now been extended.

Rider Personal Injury Cover from the ‘Combined Insurance of America’ is now available from the BSMA for both renewal and new policies. Details will be available shortly.

Doodson Motorsport is the official insurance and risk management partner for the BSMA. Working in partnership the cover has been developed and tailored to make sure it provides the right cover for the members. Doodson Motorsport were chosen as the broker for the BSMA because of their knowledge of the sport and the quality of the advice and insurance they provide.

Employers Liability
This cover is a legal requirement and covers the Marshalls and all officials and volunteers at any race meeting or other activity approved by the BSMA. The law states that you need this cover at a minimum level of £10 and the BSMA and its membership have this cover in place.

Public Liability:
This covers injury to riders, spectators and third parties who are at an event in the event of negligence by the club who run the event. The BSMA have purchased a limit of £20m for any one claim for this cover.

Personal Accident:
Cover is in place for riders and for marshals, officials and volunteers at all meetings.

Professional Indemnity and Directors and Officers Liability
The BSMA purchase this cover to protect themselves against claims for negligence in their professional capacity as a motorsport governing body.

We have a specialist motorsport policy which has cover which is tailored for motorsport clients. It is supported by a dedicated motorsports claims service which has 24 hour 365 days response from a leading motorsports solicitor which means that you can speak to an expert at any time should you have a major incident at a meeting.

Cover for Riders
Doodson Motorsport also offer a range of policies for riders and with every policy purchased a donation is made back to the club the rider belongs to. Riders should be confident that they are speaking to a broker who has a team of people who know and understand the needs of riders. They can offer:

Riders Personal Accident:
Doodson can offer polices through Combined Insurance of America so new policies and also transfer of your existing polices can be done easily and hassle free all with a contribution going back to the riders club. They also have other options on personal accident polices to offer riders if Combined is not the policy the rider wants.

Bikes:
Cover can be offered for at track, in transit and at home.

Motor homes, Vans and Race Trucks:
Doodson have a wide range of insurers who can offer policies for riders with an option to be able to extend the cover for European use.
