EAST KENT AT STAPLEHURST TN12 0JW
East Kent SSC hosted the 2011 BSMA Semi Finals at Staplehurst, track conditions were superbly prepared once again by Adam Hawkins who single handily prepared, graded, watered and even maintained the track in-between races while competing in the semi’s himself. What a guy! So it’s no wonder the visiting club Portsmouth MXC were just itching to get the racing under starter’s orders and under the watchful eye of BSMA Official Vic Amor, the excitement of the chase for the top ten positions began with the Auto class making their debut at the Semi’s along with the East Kent Open class too for the very first time!
What an awesome start to the Semi’s as Dexter Marks powered his way to the first bend in the Open group to take the hole shot and lead the way at an astounding pace to take the overall victory for Portsmouth. Joe Cundle wasn’t deterred at all and continued to chase Marks all the way especially in race one as after a bad start he worked his way up the field to fourth, but with two seconds under his belt second overall was his. George Purchase fought hard and was consistent throughout to take third in every block for third overall.
A brilliant line up in the Amx group proved exciting to watch as the group pulled away from the start with Adam Cooper claiming the hole shot. Both Arron Jenner and Rob Muscat tore away from the group at a great speed with some breath taking passes along the way. It was Jenner who took the victory finish with Muscat in second overall on equal points. The battle for third was intense amongst Piers Skinner and Jamie Austin-Carter who was on top form throughout the day. It was Skinner who secured himself overall third.
Those young Senior riders were just amazing, especially young Jack Norman who flew off the gate to the first bend for the hole shot. Ryan Fellows who is having such a fantastic year, continued to be on top form to take the overall with Chae Jenkinson, who was enjoying the competition and riding superbly in second overall. John Eaton pushed himself hard throughout with a mixture of finishes resulting in John taking overall third.
Joe Borrett seemed unstoppable as he took the hole shot in the Big Wheels until Connor Dennis applied the gas and the chase was on between Joe and Connor. It was Connor who took the overall in the end with Joe in second. Third overall was truly well-earned by Dan Griggs as he worked so hard up through the top six.
Wow! What a performance from the Auto riders of both clubs as they showed the BSMA why they deserved to be at the semis as they all flew out the gates with Cain Marsh taking the hole shot and after a third in race one and two first places finishes in the remaining blocks he also took the overall with Kayden Algar and Liam Brosnan both powering their way to second and third overall.
Gary Ashley dominated the Junior group and there was just no stopping him as he took the hole shot and all three wins for a well-deserved victory. Both Daniel Sultana and Ashley Surridge were just amazing as they fought so, so hard to get that all important first overall, resulting in the boys making the top three. Well done guys well-deserved!
The wait was nearly over for the Small Wheels as they were last out on the track and with sheer determination clearly visible for all to see and as the gate dropped they were gone with Ethan Winchester getting the hole shot. Michael Ellis pulled through to dominate the group by taking the win in all three blocks to get the overall. Second and third were still up for grabs as Winchester and Nathan Turner-Whittle took them, it was such a close call with Tom Borrett trying so hard to finish inside the top three. So Close!
Finally a big thank you must go to Martin Crane and the committee for all their hard work both on the day and behind the scenes, paramedics for their help, land owners for the use of the track, Vic Amor and BSMA for their support, Gary Cambridge photographer & Mick of Destination MX. Also best wishes for a speedy recovery and a quick return to racing to the injured riders especially to the Portsmouth rider! And finally all at East Kent would like to say thank you to all at Portsmouth for travelling up and hope they had a safe journey home.

RHAYADER AT SAINTSWELL LD1 6PT
With the whole country engulfed in heavy rain,to say the least. It was the turn of 'RYMXC' Rhayader Youth Motocross Club to host a BSMA Semi Final on Sunday 12th June'11 at Saint Wells Track, Bwlchysarnau, Nr Rhayader and what a challenge it was! The day before was a glorious dry day, with everyone arriving at the track and setting up camp in the beautiful valley. But it all changed on Sunday morning as continuous rain set in for the whole day but this will never ever deter RYMXC from running. Pulling out all the stops for the riders booked in, so they can try and get some racing done! The Rees family had certainly done some fantastic preparation to the track and the RYMXC Committee members had all worked so hard all week to make it look top notch! Joining RYMXC were Corsham and Coventry MX Clubs for some muddy racing which definitely sorted out the men from the boys. It was top ten in each class to go through to the BSMA Finals in August and the riders really did deliver in such demanding conditions. With some awesome racing up front in all groups the super stars put on a great show but the most hard fought battles being those for the top ten positions, with everybody using their heads to score consistently.
RYMXC would like to give a huge thank you to Mr Brian Rees & Family, all riders and families who supported this semi final, all the people who marshalled and got absolutely soaking wet, St John's Ambulance and everyone who helped in anyway to run the event - it is very, very much appreciated! Hi-de-hi campers, hope you enjoyed it? Because this is how they do it!!!
Well done to all qualifiers and good luck at the finals!

RE RUN OF BSMA SEMI FINALS HOSTED BY SOUTH WEST MOTOCROSS CLUB AT TIVERTON

Hot Air Balloon woke camping rider’s early Sunday morning allowing Southwest committee to get scrutineering and practise out of the way ready for a good day racing. With the track well prepared and watered the open riders were out first.
Fighting for the first corner Dan Wade and Sean Browning clashes handle bars allowing Aaron Jenkins and Darren Toy to pull slightly in front with Toy taking the first win of the day. Browning hole shots the second unfortunately he crashes allowing Toy and Sam Harvey to battle for 1st place. Toy winning his second race of the day. Harry Mitchell powering through the bigger 4 stroke bikes on his Yamaha 125 finishing 3rd. Last open race again Browning hole shots with fellow Cornish lads hot on his back wheel. Wayne Back and Wade make their move and powers past battling until Wade passes and takes the win.

When the gate drops in the amx group Ryan King was the man to watch, hole shots all three. Closely chased by Southwest’s own Kristain Barry and Louis Jenkins. Not to be beat Barry takes the first win away from King. King takes the 2nd and 3rd both riders securing their places in the finals. Fight was on for the remaining places with Ben Wills, Josh Evans and Jenkins determined to get their place. Jenkins winning through to 3rd.

Next the seniors group and with only 10 qualifying places for the finals the heat was on. Josh Taylor stormed away with an early lead but an unfortunate crash allowed Brian Butler to take the win. Louis Schmidt hole shots the second only to be soon taken by Jonathan Cole and Taylor. Determine to win Taylor pulls away from the pack leaving Stuart Smith and Jack Stevens hot on the power chasing Cole both riders making their move to take 2nd and 3rd. Back the field Parker brothers battling for their place with the older one showing the way.

Auto riders not to be out done by the bigger bikes also did the whole circuit. Archie Bees hole shots the 1st closely chased by Louie Kessell and Luke Williamson. Half a lap out in front these three riders had a race on their own. Bees making an error in the 2nd allowed Kessell to take the win. Individual races further back the field between the rest of the riders with Connor Jago, Kyle Breslan, Austin Wild, Jake Pascoe and Dylan Cadwallander fighting for 4th place. Jago kept his cool and had 3 consistent 4th. Aiden Trott works hard to try and be in the top ten chasing Lewis Whitshire and Molly Shuttler but Shuttler powers to 5th place in the last to guarantee her place at the finals.

Juniors next up proved no track side assistance needed. Support rider Harry Kimber led the field in a league out on his own with 3 easy wins.
Outstanding racing from the rest. The Cornish lads proving they were made of steel with henry, brother to auto winner Archie Bees having two seconds behind Kimber. Bees hole shots the second only to lose the lead when Kimber powers past from nowhere. With Kimber being a support rider allows Bees to move up to take 1st overall.
Not forgetting Brandon Baker, Dan Roberts, Callum Gordon and Louis Thomas who battle it out in all three to prove they were worthy to be in the finals.

Small wheeled 85 rider number 16, Jack Roberts the one to watch. Hole shots the first and keeps his lead to take the win. In the second he ups the anti and opens his lead away from 150 Honda rider Bradley Flagg who had to be content with 3 seconds. Fighting for the 3rd/4th and 5th place constantly changing each race between fellow riders Harry Pritchard, Jake Curtis Stevens and Brendan Cooper with Pritchard having victory in two of the races.

Last out the big wheeled 85. Josh Gilbert making sure he qualified took charge of all three races leaving Dean Symons and Karl Noble to battle it out for 2nd and 3rd. With riders determine to qualified mistakes were being made from the start keeping the 1st aiders busy. Aching muscles and tired riders saw more casualties in the last race of the day. Daniel Furse and Jamie Dixon clashes after the first corner resulting in a red flag and a restart unfortunately Jamie better known as Jim bob spent the rest of the race watching track side. Then the restart only to see Karl Noble crash losing his 3rd position and out of the top 10.
Spectators and supporter enjoyed a good days racing well done to all who qualified and good luck at the finals plus a speedy recover to all you fallen riders.
